巴克莱副主席

韦德颖爵士(Sir David Wright)于2011年6月获委任为巴克莱副主席。之前,韦爵士曾自2003年1月起担任巴克莱资本副主席。在伦敦任职的韦爵士,主掌与高层客户的关系,尤其专注英国和亚太地区。他负责处理巴克莱对英国、欧盟与亚太区政府及监管机构的公共事务活动,并协调巴克莱与世界经济论坛、国际货币基金组织及其他同类全球组织的互动关系。他亦是巴克莱亚太咨询委员会的执行董事。韦爵士在加入巴克莱之前,是英国贸易和投资机构(英国海外贸易和投资促进机构)在英国的首任首席执行官(1999至2002年)。他为资深外交官,曾驻守东京、首尔、巴黎及伦敦等地,并曾担任英国内阁秘书和韦尔斯亲王的私人秘书。韦爵士曾任英国驻韩国(1990至1994年)和日本(1996至1999年)大使职务。他操流利法语和日语,并能说韩语。他是英国-韩国未来论坛(the UK-Korea Forum for the Future)的主席、英日21世纪集团的董事会成员,并是剑桥大学柏斯学院(the Perse School)校董会主席。韦爵士曾就读于伍尔弗汉普顿文法学校(Wolverhampton Grammar School)及剑桥大学彼得学院(Peterhouse),拥有历史学硕士学位,现时为剑桥大学荣誉院士。他于1996年获册封为爵士(KCMG)。2002年6月15日,他名列英女王银禧授勋名单,获颁骑士大十字勋章(GCMG)。他现为伍尔弗汉普顿和伯明翰两所大学的名誉法学博士,曾任英国著名建筑公司Balfour Beatty非执行董事(2003至2006年)。韦德颖爵士已婚,两名子女已经成年,并有四名令他感到非常自豪的孙儿。

Vice Chairman, Barclays

Sir David Wright became Vice Chairman of Barclays in June 2011. Previously, he was Vice Chairman of Barclays Capital since January 2003. Based in London, his role covers senior client relationships, with special emphasis on the UK and Asia Pacific. He also works on Barclays public affairs activity with Government and supervisory agencies in the UK, in the EU, and in Asia Pacific. In addition, he co-ordinates Barclays interaction with the World Economic Forum, the IMF and other similar global groups. He is an Executive Director of Barclays Asia Pacific Advisory Committee. Prior to joining Barclays, Sir David was the first Chief Executive of UK Trade and Investment in the UK (the British overseas trade and investment promotion agency), a position he held between 1999 and 2002. He had a long career in the Diplomatic Service, including positions in Tokyo, Seoul, Paris and London. He worked as Private Secretary to the UK's Cabinet Secretary and also as Private Secretary to HRH The Prince of Wales. Sir David held the positions of British Ambassador in Korea (1990 to 1994) and Japan (1996 to 1999); he is fluent in French and Japanese and speaks Korean. He is a Chairman of the UK-Korea Forum for the Future. He is a Board Member of the UK-Japan 21st Century Group. He is also Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Perse School, Cambridge. Sir David was educated at Wolverhampton Grammar School and at Peterhouse, Cambridge where he took a MA degree in History and of which he is an Honorary Fellow. Sir David was Knighted (KCMG) in 1996. He was appointed GCMG (Knight Grand Cross) on 15 June 2002 in the Queen's Jubilee Honours List. He is an Honorary LLD at the Universities of Wolverhampton and Birmingham, and was a non-Executive Director of the leading UK construction company, Balfour Beatty from 2003 to 2006. He is married and has two adult children, and four grandchildren of whom he is extremely proud.
