赵启正毕业于中国科学技术大学核物理专业，曾从事科研、设计工作20年。历任上海市委组织部长、副市长、上海市浦东新区管委会主任、国务院新闻办公室主任、全国政协外事委员会主任等职。现兼任中国人民大学新闻学院院长。著作有《向世界说明中国》（上、下）、《江边对话》、《对话：中国模式》、《公共外交与跨文化交流》、《跨国对话——公共外交的智慧》等。

Zhao Qizheng graduated from the University of Science and Technology of China in 1963. He was then engaged in scientific research and design as a senior engineer for more than 20 years. He held many titles during his career. When working in Shanghai in the 1980s and 1990s, he was Director of the Department of Organization of CPC Shanghai Committee, Vice Mayor of Shanghai, and Governor of Shanghai Pudong New Area. He was Minister of the State Council Information Office from 1998 to 2005 and was vice Director and then Director of the Foreign Affairs Committee of CPPCC from 2005 to 2013. He is also Dean of the School of Journalism of Renmin University. Mr. Zhao's publications include: Presenting China to the World - Zhao Qizheng's Speeches and Dialogues, Riverside Talks: A Friendly Dialogue Between An Atheist and A Christian (co-authored with Dr. Luis Palau), Logic of Pudong - Development of Pudong and Economic Globalization, Dialogue Between Nations, Dialogue: China’s Model (co-authored with John Naisbitt and Doris Naisbitt), How China Communicates: Public Diplomacy in a Global Age, and Cross-border Dialogues: The Wisdom of Public Diplomacy.
