Olof Persson began his business career in 1988 when he graduated from Karlstad University in Sweden, holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Business Administration. He joined the ABB Group as a graduate trainee in Sweden and later moved to one of their locations in Switzerland. In 1996, he became Vice President of Strategic Development at Adtranz, a German/Swedish company designing rail cars and engines, owned with equal shares by ABB and Daimler-Benz. He became President Product Unit when Daimler-Benz purchased ABB’s shares in Adtranz in 1999. In 2001, Adtranz was acquired by Bombardier Transportation and became the world’s largest company in the rail equipment manufacturing and servicing industry, headquartered in Berlin, Germany, and Olof Persson became Division President. In 2006, he joined the Volvo Group as President and CEO of Volvo Aero Corporation. Having successfully grown Volvo Aero, he took up the position of President and CEO at Volvo Construction Equipment in November 2008. During his time at Volvo Construction Equipment in the midst of the financial crisis, he succeeded in restructuring the company and making it one of the most successful in its industry, in terms of both profitability and size. Since September 1st 2011 Olof Persson is the President and CEO of the Volvo Group. Olof Persson currently lives with his wife and three children in G·teborg, Sweden.
