胡茂元，教授级高级工程师、高级经济师。1951年生于上海，1993年取得复旦大学硕士学位，2003年取得同济大学博士学位。1968年参加工作，自1983年2月起曾先后担任上海拖拉机厂厂长，上海汽车工业总公司总裁，期间曾兼任上海汇众汽车制造有限公司和上海通用汽车有限公司第一任总经理。他长期在上海汽车工业从事生产经营管理和对外合作工作，提出了“零缺陷”生产管理模式、“一体化管理”非核心业务管理模式、上汽集团“SAIC价值观”和“4S”合资企业合作理念，并著有诠释SAIC价值观的《与世界对话》寓言故事集一书。

Mr. Hu Mao Yuan, professor-level senior engineer and senior economist, was born in 1951 in Shanghai. He graduated from the Machinery and Electronics School of Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1983 and was conferred Master’s Degree by Fu Dan University in 1993 and Doctor’s Degree by Tongji University in 2003. He began his career in the automotive industry in 1968 and since Feb. 1983, he served as the managing director of Shanghai Tractor Plant and later was promoted to the　president of Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation. During that period, he concurrently served as the president of Shanghai Huizhong Automotive Manufacturing Co., Ltd. and the first president of Shanghai General Motors Co., Ltd..Mr. Hu Mao Yuan has long been involved in manufacturing, operational management and international cooperation. He has initiated some advanced enterprise management concepts such as Zero-defect Management, Integrated Management, SAIC Corporate Values, 4S cooperation concept and is the author of Dialogue with the World, a fable story book which interprets SAIC corporate cultures.
