赵小兰

首位任美国总统内阁的华人,更是二战后,唯一任满八年,任职最久的劳工部长。任内,赵部长率劳工部在保护劳动力健康、安全、薪资和退休保障的业绩上创新很多纪录。她提高国际交流,改善美中关系,并于2008年代表美国总统率代表团赴京参加奥运会闭幕式,也是美中战略经济对话最高核心人物。她生涯杰出,涉及公共,私营及非营利单位,均成就斐然;曾任联合劝募协会总裁、和平团团长、运输部副部长和花旗及美国银行副总裁。她荣获34个荣誉博士,哈佛工商管理硕士,曼荷莲学院经济学士。为纪念先母,目前任家庭基金会主席。同时受聘于新闻集团、富国银行、哈佛商学院和肯尼迪政府学院等机构之董事等

The first Chinese American ever appointed to a President’s Cabinet in American history, Secretary Chao was the only member of the President’s cabinet to serve all eight years and the longest serving Secretary of Labor since World War II. During her tenure, Secretary Chao led the Department in achieving record results in protecting the health, safety, wage, and retirement security of America’s workforce. She also increased international exchanges and contributed to improving U. S.-China relations including signing seven Letters of Understanding broadening cooperation between the two countries in labor practices. She headed the U.S. Delegation to the Closing Ceremony of the Beijing Olympics in August 2008. She was a key participant in the U.S.-China Strategic Economic Dialogue, the highest level Cabinet to Cabinet forum between the two countries. Her distinguished career spans the public, private and nonprofit sectors. Prior to Secretary of Labor, she was President and CEO of United Way of America (America’s premier private charitable organization), Director of Peace Corps, Deputy Secretary of the U. S. Department of Transportation. She also worked as Vice President of Syndications, Bank of America and at Citicorp. Recognized with innumerable awards for her public service including 34 honorary doctorate degrees, Secretary Chao has an MBA from Harvard Business School and an economics degree from Mount Holyoke College. Currently, Secretary Chao is Chairman of the family foundation honoring her mother, Ruth Mulan Chu Chao, who passed on August 2, 2007. She serves on a number of public boards such as News Corporation, Wells Fargo Bank, Dole Food Company and nonprofit boards including Bloomberg Family Philanthropy; New York Presbyterian Hospital; Harvard Business School Board of Dean’s Advisors; Harvard Business School Board of Global Advisors; Institute of Politics, Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
