RMB 400,000 Donations Mobilized by BFA to Support the Improvement of Two Primary Schools in Hainan |

Boao Forum for Asia(BFA) announced during its Annual Conference 2005 held on 22-24 April that it has mobilized 400,000 RMB donations from its sponsors and members to support the improvement of infrastructure of Yanan Miao Minority Primary School and Ranch Primary School of Wenchang both located in poor and remote area of Hainan Province, China.
As a non-profit, non-governmental organization, BFA was established in 2001 and its mandate is to promote the economic and social development of Asia through providing a platform for communication among government and business leaders and famous academia. With the broad support from governments and business sectors of Asia and the rest of the world, it has become one of the most influential forums in the world. Among all, it has had the strong support of Hainan Provincial Government and people there as BFA holds its annual conferences in Boao of Hainan Province.
This year, for the first time in the history of BFA, BFA launched its charity efforts to support disadvantaged group. During its AC 2005, BFA called for donations for the two primary schools in Hainan Province which have poor conditions and urgently need for the improvement of the infrastructure. The charity initiative has been well echoed by BFA sponsors and active members. CNPC,BMW, Merrill Lynch, TNT, Woodside, Siemens, NYK, Ericsson, Degussa, COSCO, SK, Microsoft, Broad and South Airlines have respectively made donations. By end of the Conference, BFA had successfully mobilized about 400,000 RMB which is adequate for the reconstruction of the above two primary schools.
BFA expressed that it would take full advantage of its resources and work with its partners; continue to carry on charity programs in the future with an aim of helping solve problems in poverty, education, healthcare, natural disasters and environmental protection and help promote social development for Asian countries. |
