Dr. Chung Moon-Soo is currently the Advisor to the President for Economic Policy. Prior to joining the presidential office in January 2005, he was a professor of the Department of International Trade at Inha University for over ten years, having served as Dean of Graduate School of International Trade and Regional Studies at Inha University from March 2004 to January 2005. From 1984 to 1994, he worked as a Counsel/Senior Counsel in the Office of the General Counsel in the Asian Development Bank and served as Chairman of the Korean Trade Commission, Government of Korea between 1998 and 2001. Between 1983 to 1984 and between 1979 to 1981, Dr. Chung worked in leading law firms of USA and Korea such as Crowell and Moring in Washington D.C. and Kim and Chang in Seoul, respectively. Dr. Chung's further past service in private and public sector boards and committees encompasses such organizations as Hanvit Bank, Government Reform Committee, Korea Exchange Bank Board of Directors and Presidential Committee on Regulatory Reform. Dr. Chung began his career as a senior staff in the Economic Planning Board in 1971, and held post in the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs from 1974 to 1977. As a law major at Seoul National University School of Law, Dr. Chung earned his Master of Law Degree (LL.M) and the SJD from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 1982 and 1984, respectively. He was admitted as a member of the State of New York Bar and American Bar Association in 1984.[Text of Speech]
